Desert Tortoises

Paul Vasquez details three decades of interaction with desert tortoises. The Vasquez family moved to Ajo 30 years ago. Son Steven, 8 at the time, asked Dad for a pet tortoise. That was the beginning of a long-term relationship with, and education about, desert tortoises, which are the product of millions of years of evolution.

Parents/caregivers and children interact through stories, songs, and rhymes. Stories fit the child's attention span. Storytime can last between 20 and 45 minutes.
