Job Help
Résumé Program Plan
This workshop will help you develop an excellent résumé for job-search success. The top résumé experts, recruiters and outplacement firms all agree that a winning résumé must be "accomplishments based" and not merely a "job description." Accomplishments are the points that really help sell you to an employer—much more so than everyday job duties.
You will use the Problem – Action – Result (PAR) format to develop your accomplishments (also called the CAR format: Challenge – Action – Result). When you apply the PAR format your resume automatically answers the interviewer’s hidden objection, namely, "Why should we believe that you can do what you say you can do?" For the jobs that have gone by in which you haven't recorded your accomplishments, you will use a guide to brainstorm all those terrific things you did. You will develop the following sections for your résumé: your objective, accomplishments, summary and job history.
Presented by John Shattuck, Ph.D., Tucson Job Seekers. Call the Library at 229-5300 to register.
