Author Presentation
A Guide to Southern Arizona's Historic Farms & Ranches
Local author Lili DeBarbieri will be on hand to discuss her new book, recently released by the History Press.
With roots dating back to the mid-1800s, southern Arizona’s historic guest ranches and farm stays include Spain’s first mission in the continental United States, a former World War II prison camp and boys’ boarding school and a Butterfield Stagecoach stop. Intimately connected to Arizona’s land and legacy, these unparalleled retreats have hosted countless artists, movie stars and politicians and continue to enrich their present-day communities through food, education and conservation.
So pack your bags and join travel writer Lili DeBarbieri for this journey into the rural west south of the Gila River. Book signing to follow talk.

Arts & Crafts
Live Outside the Lines : Draw 1
Create stunning artwork with professional artists from the Drawing Studio. Instructors in this 8-part series of classes will emphasize that the practice of art is a lifelong exploration.
Participants will learn how to draw from observation. These classes will introduce the basic language of drawing and how it is used to communicate what and how we observe. You will discover not only that you can draw, but you will acquire the core of what it is to draw, which is how to observe.
This program is part of our Fit for Life 50+ series and is presented courtesy of the Friends of the Pima County Library. All supplies are provided at no cost.
Class size is limited. Registration is required prior to the first class. Please call 594-5420 beginning September 10 to register for these classes. You must be available for all eight classes.
