Drop-in Job Help

Our Job Help Hub Instructor is available to answer questions you might have on a wide variety of job search topics. Topics include resume writing, online job searching, e-mail accounts, completing online job applications, interviewing, and basic computer skills.

An individual can sign up for a ½-hour one-on-one session during drop-in job help; stop in or call the library at 594-5200.

Toddler Storytime

Designed for children 18- to 36-months-old. Parents/caregivers and children interact through stories, songs, and rhymes. Stories are kept short to fit the toddlers' short attention spans. Each Toddler storytime is 20 to 30 minutes long.

Bow-Making Craft

Drop in and learn the art of bow-making. Use your handmade bows to add flair to all of your crafts and decorations. This workshop is geared for teens and adults. Ribbon and other supplies provided.

Travel

Shopping for travel deals online can save time and money. We will look at some of the most popular travel sites on the internet and discuss ways to make online shopping safer.

Preschool Storytime

Designed for 3- to 5-year-olds and their parents or caregivers. Stories are longer than the Toddler Storytime and the activities are more complex. Children must be able to sit still for a longer period of time than during Toddler Storytime. Preschool Storytime is 30 to 45 minutes long.

Reading Partners

Our trained Reading Partner Miss Otzie takes joy in reading stories one-to-one to your child during your visit.

Getting the Most Out of the Internet

Hone your search skills, learn to shop online securely, and then participate in online communities via message boards and chat rooms. Mouse and keyboard skills or completion of the Get Started with the Computer class required.

Homework Help

Free tutoring is available on site for all ages. Subjects include math, science, social studies and writing. Help available in Spanish, subject to availability.

Read To a Dog!

Come and read for fun to a licensed therapy dog.

The dog creates a very low stress environment for children who are learning or having difficulties learning to read. As the child reads aloud, the dog listens and enjoys the story and never corrects the child.

The dog just loves what the child is doing! A loving, low-stress time for children to read is often extremely helpful in learning to read.

Job Club

The purpose of the Job Club is to provide information, networking opportunities, and support to job seekers. We discuss career exploration, resumes, online applications, interviewing, and other issues related to the job search.

Free GED Preparation and Tutoring

At this drop-in session, get help from our tutors to get started preparing for the GED at your own pace. All classes are taught by Pima County Public Library tutors with Adult Education Certification, and will be taught in English. Students ages 16 and older can attend classes.

Please note that children cannot attend these classes. Parents must make their own child care arrangements for children under age 8.

NaNoWriMo Write In!

Welcome to National Novel Writing Month at your library! Wheeler Taft Abbett, Sr. Library will be hosting Friday write ins in the children's meeting room. Our computers are available to writers, and we will have a "Novelist at Work" table in the reading area all month. Bring your laptop or a pen and paper, and your resolve!

Last day! Congratulations, you made it to the end, and whether you hit 50,000 words or not, you are amazing!

Computer Build Class

CreateIT - Think it. Make it. Do it. New technology and media classes for teens.

Join us for 3 days of learning how to construct a computer. In a fun and interactive environment you can learn how to assemble a computer from start to finish! Come explore it, learn it, and create it!

This is a three-part class beginning on April 3. These classes are designed for Middle and High School students.
