Books on Wheels - Orientation Sessions for Volunteers

Do you love to read and are you looking for a challenging and rewarding volunteer opportunity? Pima County Public Library is starting a Books on Wheels (on bikes) program in Tucson and we're looking for volunteers to help select books for homebound community members.

Please fill out the volunter application found here and bring it with you to one of the orientations listed below.

Seeking help with your portable device? Looking for one-on-one help with downloading and transferring a book using your computer? Bring it to the library for demonstrations, questions and hands-on help.

We are designating a Quiet Zone for those customers who would like an area where they can have a peaceful place for study, contemplation, reflection, productive thinking or to just read, with minimal disturbances.

Juggling and More Fun Show

Big tricks, big fun and big laughs for all ages! Watch as James attempts eating an apple while juggling and hula-hooping, balancing on the wobbly rola-bola, and the spectacular sports equipment finale.

Limited seating. Tickets will be handed out at the service desk one hour before performance.

Visit the Bookmobile at the Manor at Midvale, 6250 S Commerce Drive, on the 2nd Saturday of the month.

Digital Photography

This course will introduce you to the vocabulary, concepts, and equipment you need to be a digital photographer. Learn how to upload pictures to your computer and how to organize, edit, print and email digital photos.

Prerequisite: Mouse and keyboard skills, or completion of the Get Started with the Computer class.

Where's Waldo?

Where's Waldo? In Tucson, of course! The famous fellow in the striped shirt and black rimmed specs will be in twenty locations on 4th Avenue and in Downtown during the month of July. (Well, to be honest, it'll be a 6-inch version of Waldo.) Those who spot Waldo in 15 different locations can enter a raffle to win fabulous prizes.

Want to participate? Pick up a search list at Antigone Books (411 N 4th Avenue) or the children's section of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library (101 N Stone Avenue). Or, go to www.antigonebooks.com to download the list and to see the list of raffle prizes. Waldo fans of all ages are invited to participate.

You have from July 1 through July 30 to find Waldo.

Raffle winners will be chosen on July 31.
