Contra Dance Lesson and Live Music Performance

Come enjoy the American folk dance tradition of contra dancing. Contra means "facing" and these dances are done in long lines of facing couples. You may remember dancing the Virginia Reel or doing moves like do-si-do and swing your partner familiar to many from square dancing. Contra dancing places these moves, and others, into interesting combinations and the dancing is accompanied by lovely live fiddle music.

Our program will feature the teaching and calling of Claire Zucker and the foot stomping tunes of the Privvy Tippers dance band. No experience is necessary and you don't need to come with a partner, you don't even need to dance, you can come and just enjoy the great live music. Wear comfortable shoes without too much grip on the bottom and be ready to laugh and enjoy yourself.

Free. No registration required. Questions? Call 520-594-5225
