Chinese New Year Celebration

Celebrate the Year of the Snake with light refreshments and fun-filled activities such as Chinese Calligraphy, face painting, and crafts. The University of Arizona's Purple Bamboo Ensemble will perform.

Mahjong Monday

Come learn and play Mahjong with us! These sessions are intended to help keep Senior's minds sharp and to expand Seniors' social experiences. (board games and card games are also offered.)

Exception: Mahjong Monday does not meet on Monday holidays when the library is closed.

Chess Club at Himmel

Join us every Monday to play chess and meet some friends. No experience necessary, just enthusiasm and good sportsmanship. All ages are welcome.

Advanced English Language Conversation Class / Clases de Conversación de Inglés avanzadas

Practice your English conversation skills with trained, volunteer tutors from Literacy Volunteers of Tucson. Classes may include some reading and writing to stimulate discussion. Call 594-5305 to inquire.
Parents please note that children cannot attend these classes. Parents must make their own childcare arrangements for children under the age of 8.

Teen Gaming

All teens are invited to come in and rock out to Rock Band® or test your sporting skills on Wii! Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero are also available. For more information stop by the library or call 594-5305.

Free tutoring is available on site for all ages. Subjects include math, science, social studies and writing. Help available in Spanish, subject to availability.

Benefits and Services for Veterans and Their Survivors

Cathi Starr, Southern Arizona Regional Manager of the Arizona Department of Veterans' Services, will speak about veterans' service connected disabilities, diseases, and compensation, veterans' pension benefits, the Aid and Attendant Program, and veterans' burial benefits and widowed spouses' benefits. Read to a Dog

Hey Kids! Read to Homer and have fun while improving your reading skills. Therapy dogs love to have books read to them. They never criticize your reading skills and will often give you a "kiss".

Toddler Storytime

Designed for children 18- to 36-months-old. Parents/caregivers and children interact through stories, songs, and rhymes. Stories are kept short to fit the toddlers' short attention spans. Each Toddler storytime is 20 to 30 minutes long.

Babytime

Designed for babies up to 18 months of age. At Storytime, children have an opportunity to do activities that promote development and learning.

Teen Advocate Training

If you are 14 to 18 years old and would like to earn $100, this training is for you! Teens, learn about library resources and agree to make five presentations to your peers at school, church, youth group, etc., before the end of April 2013 to earn $100. It's a great way to increase your public speaking skills and gain valuable job experience too!
