Bookbike Volunteer Orientation

Do you love books and bikes? If so, you can combine these two passions by becoming a volunteer for the Pima County Public Library's Bookbike - a three-wheeled non-motorized bookmobile project!

Please fill out a this volunteer application and bring it with you to the training.

Family Storytime

Family Storytime is for all ages. It is an opportunity for parents to introduce their children to reading and language in a fun way.

Read to a Dog

Children are invited to read to a Certified Therapy Dog. One of the favorite things for the dog to do is listen to children read lots of stories. Reading to a dog or other pet can help new and reluctant readers gain confidence, increase important reading skills, and develop a love of reading.

Part of The Human Rights Watch Film Festival, featuring free screenings of provocative new features and documentaries paired with post-film discussions.

Habibi

Young lovers Qays and Layla are university students in the West Bank who hail from Khan Yunis in Gaza. They are forced to return home before com­pleting their courses. In the more religious and traditional environment of Khan Yunis, their love story can continue only by marrying. Yet Qays, who is a construction worker living in a refugee camp, is too poor to con­vince Layla's father that he can provide for his beloved daughter. As the couple struggles to be together, Qays paints verses from the classical poem Majnun Layla all over Khan Yunis, a rebellious act that angers Layla's father and the local self-appointed moral police. Lyrical and passionate, Habibi depicts a reality where personal happiness must be weighed against society's opinions, and a choice sometimes made between one's people and one's heart.

Preschool Storytime

Designed for 3- to 5-year-olds and their parents or caregivers. Stories are longer than the Toddler Storytime and the activities are more complex. Children must be able to sit still for a longer period of time than during Toddler Storytime. Preschool Storytime is 30 to 45 minutes long.

Individual Job Counseling

A job counselor from Career Services Unlimited will provide free, one-on-one career counseling on topics including resume writing, choosing a career, updating your interviewing, networking and job search skills, and more.

Walk-ins are welcome. No appointment is necessary, but sessions are limited to 30 minutes. For more information, please call Infoline at 791-4010.

Toddler Storytime

Designed for children 18- to 36-months-old. Parents/caregivers and children interact through stories, songs, and rhymes. Stories are kept short to fit the toddlers' short attention spans. Each Toddler storytime is 20 to 30 minutes long.

Babytime

Designed for babies up to 18 months of age. At Storytime, children have an opportunity to do activities that promote development and learning.
