Read to a Dog

Children are invited to read to a Certified Therapy Dog. One of the favorite things for the dog to do is listen to children read lots of stories. Reading to a dog or other pet can help new and reluctant readers gain confidence, increase important reading skills, and develop a love of reading.

Find out more about Read to a Dog.

The Physics Factory Physics Bus!

It’s big; it’s green; it’s the Physics Bus! Las Puertas Community School is bringing this study in science and hands-on experimentation to the Valencia Library for the community to enjoy.

From its 50-foot, molecule-tipped TV antennae mast to its Eegee’s used vegetable-oil-powered engine, the bus is itself part of the event—and something that kids talk about for hours afterward. Bring the family for lots of science fun, and check out Las Puertas Community School for 6th to 9th graders while you’re here.
