Reading Partners

Reading Partners brings adult volunteers and children together to share their love of reading. Our trained Reading Partner Anita takes joy in reading stories one-on-one to your child during your visit to the library. They also welcome your child reading to them.

Reading Partners is generously supported by the Friends of the Pima County Public Library.

Preschool Storytime

Designed for 3- to 5-year-olds and their parents or caregivers. Stories are longer than the Toddler Storytime and the activities are more complex. Children must be able to sit still for a longer period of time than during Toddler Storytime. Preschool Storytime is 30 to 45 minutes long.

Hunters and Hunted

Presented by the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.
Meet the carnivores of the desert and their prey.

Individual Job Counseling

A job counselor from Career Services Unlimited will provide free, one-on-one career counseling on topics including resume writing, choosing a career, updating your interviewing, networking and job search skills, and more.

Walk-ins are welcome. No appointment is necessary, but sessions are limited to 30 minutes. For more information, please call Infoline at 791-4010.

Toddler Storytime

Designed for children 18- to 36-months-old. Parents/caregivers and children interact through stories, songs, and rhymes. Stories are kept short to fit the toddlers' short attention spans. Each Toddler storytime is 20 to 30 minutes long.

Babytime

Designed for babies up to 18 months of age. At Storytime, children have an opportunity to do activities that promote development and learning.

Game-O-Rama

Explore some new games, play an old favorite, and "beat the heat" every Thursday this summer! Mini-gamers from 4 years and up are welcome!

Main Children's Play Time

Join the fun with your little ones as we share toys, puzzles and enriching activities. For children ages 1-5 years-old.

Urban Yarns @ the Library

Calling all downtown knitters and crocheters! Bring your hooks, needles, and lunches to Urban Yarns, an informal weekly gathering. Meet fellow fiber fanatics, peruse the library's latest fiber-themed books, and find inspiration for your next project.

MakeLab

Celebrate the end of the week with some creativity—every Friday this summer we will be recycling/remaking/reworking everything from bike tubes to t-shirts, from phone wires to photos. All teens are welcome, especially those who color outside the lines!

Presented by Norah Booth.
Introduce children to the fun of poetry in this highly interactive class. Fosters student imagination and teamwork in the creation of individual and collaborative works of poetry.

The Gunfight at the OK Corral: Fact, Fiction, and Finances

Historian Jim Turner presents this Arizona Humanities Council lecture.

The Gunfight at the O.K. Corral is the best-known, yet least understood event in the history of the Wild West. On October 26, 1881, a thirty-second shootout blasted its way onto the pages of history and gained worldwide notoriety. Drawing on original resources and professional research, this presentation explores characters, from the major players—the Earps, Clantons, and Doc Holliday—to editors, authors, outlaws, and capitalists.
