First Saturday Book Club

Join us for this month’s meeting of our book club, with refreshments and an informal discussion of titles ranging from popular to literary fiction.

We will be discussing Into the Beautiful North by Luis Alberto Urrea. We will distribute The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce and The Thousand Autumns of Jacob De Zoet by David Mitchell for a 2 hour discussion in September.

Toddler Storytime

Designed for children 18- to 36-months-old. Parents/caregivers and children interact through stories, songs, and rhymes. Stories are kept short to fit the toddlers' short attention spans. Each Toddler Storytime is 20 to 30 minutes long. Storytime begins 1/2 hour before the library opens. This allows us to enjoy our time with the children. Staff will open the door.

Presented by Reid Park Zoo.
Experience the wonder of the animal kingdom with live ambassadors from Reid Park Zoo. Discover what makes each animal special and how it survives in the wild. You may even have the opportunity to touch!

Introduction to Microsoft Excel

This course teaches Microsoft Excel basics. Excel is a spreadsheet program that helps you manage mathematical information. It is frequently used in today’s workplace. Once you begin to understand the basics, you will find it is an easy and fun application to use.

For example, you can use Excel to budget your personal finances and keep track of your investments. You can also use Excel to follow loan repayments, compare different mortgages, create invoices and more.

Prior experience with the computer and an understanding of the Windows operating system is recommended.

Introduction to the Computer

In this fun, hands-on course you will learn all the basic computer skills including using the mouse and keyboard, working in Microsoft Windows, using Microsoft Word, surfing the Internet and using Email. This course is ideal for someone who has a little experience with the computer but wants to know more.
Note: If you have never touched a computer or keyboard before, you may benefit from attending our Meet the Computer course prior to Introduction to Computers.

Come join us for stories, songs and fun! Designed for 3- to 5-year-olds and their parents or caregivers. Stories are longer than the Toddler Storytime and the activities are more complex. Children must be able to sit still for a longer period of time than during Toddler Storytime. Preschool Storytime is 30 to 45 minutes.
