The Horror Doesn’t End: Welcome to the Dark House, Reviewed

October and Halloween are behind us, a socially acceptable time of year to indulge in scary movies and horror reads. For horror fans who want to replay haunted feelings as winter approaches, consider bundling up and settling down with a terrifying story. It will be a chilling good time, never mind the season. An excellent choice is Welcome to the Dark House by Laurie Stolarz. You will enter an eerie environment featuring, among other creepy things, a nightmare elf.

I am a huge horror fan and honestly, when I picked up the book I wasn't expecting much. But surprisingly, once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. The story follows seven essay writers who win a chance to meet a horror film director which at first seems like a dream come true. But when one of the essay winners goes missing, the group begins to question who really invited them to the dark house. This story reminded me of the movie Scre4m, one of my personal favorites, and I recommend this to anyone who enjoys the chill of horror.
