Nanini Library History

Opened in September 1979, Nanini Library was 8,500 square feet and built with funds form the 1974 bond election. The library doubled in size to 15,000 square feet in 1989 with bond money approved in 1986.

Some of the most popular services and programs that the Nanini Library offers includes Storytimes, drop-in tech help, and weekly citizenship classes. The current collection of materials is approximately 95,000 items.

The library was named in honor of Sam and Giaconda Nanini in recognition of their community and philanthropic involvement in the northwest side of Tucson. The Naninis donated the 3-acre parcel of land where the library now sits.
