EV Charging Stations Available at Your Library

The Tucson Metro area is part of the EV Project, an 18-city electric vehicle infrastructure project, that will make Pima County a great place to drive electric.

The sixteen charging stations, 2 per location, have been installed at Pima County Public Library branches are a portion of the 125 EV charging stations in the Tucson Metro area.

EV charging stations are located at:

• Eckstrom-Columbus Branch Library, 4350 E. 22nd Street
• Himmel Park Branch Library, 1035 N. Treat Avenue
• Kirk-Bear Canyon Branch Library, 8959 E. Tanque Verde Road
• Martha Cooper Branch Library, 1377 N. Catalina Avenue
• Murphy-Wilmot Branch Library, 530 N. Wilmot Road
• Nanini Branch Library, 7300 N. Shannon Road
• Woods Memorial Branch Library, 3455 N. First Avenue
• Near the Joel D. Valdez Main Library in the Public Works Parking Garage at 50 West Alameda Street

The EV Project, managed by ECOtality, Inc., and was funded by the U.S. Department of Energy using a $114.8 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant. Private investors matched the grant for a total of $230 million for the 125 charging stations. Because the eight libraries designated are in high-traffic areas, they were chosen as easily accessible sites for the supplemental charging stations.

ECOtality, with the DOE funding, is paying for the installation and operating costs of the Blink™ charging stations throughout the duration of the EV Project in Pima County. The experimental phase of the project ended in December 2012.
