9 Queens Chess is Friendly, Fun and for All Ages
According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica, "Chess first appeared in India about the 6th century AD and by the 10th century had spread from Asia to the Middle East and Europe." Chess has spread to Pima County in a big way thanks, in large part, to 9 Queens.
9 Queens invites all ages to participate in free, non-rated tournaments. Tournaments consists of three games, and there are three levels of play: Rookie, Intermediate and Open. Play in as many tournaments as you can then, on April 5, enter the Championship Tournament at Joel D. Valdez Main Library!
The tournaments run for five hours, so a snack (a slice of pizza) is provided. Players must be on hand 30 minutes prior to the tournament start to register.
