Free Reading Tutoring for K-5 Students
Released: 09-11-09
Is your child struggling to read? Would she benefit from one-on-one reading tutoring?
Starting in October, Tucson OASIS, a national education organization dedicated to enriching the lives of adults age 50 and older, will match kindergarten through 5th grade students and their parents with tutors for free, 9-week reading tutoring sessions.
Students and their parents will meet one-on-one with a trained OASIS volunteer. They commit to meeting once-a-week, on a day of their choosing, at El Rio Branch Library. Tutors and families can meet on weekdays after school, weekends, evenings or over the summer - anytime a library branch is open. Then, at the end of a 9-week session, they can decide whether or not to continue the tutoring.
Tutoring services are only available only during regular library-hours. El Rio Branch Library is the first library location participating in this program. If you are an interested parent or guardian, please go to El Rio Branch Library to sign up.
