Enjoy the Tucson Symphony Preview Series

Enjoy the Tucson Symphony Preview Series, continues through April 2010 at the Joyner-Green Valley Branch Library.

At each preview, a TSO presenter brings a CD of the music to be featured at a TSO performance a few days later. That way, you can get familiar with the music and the composers.

After each preview session, you will be eligible to win two free tickets an upcoming TSO performance.

All previews will be held on Saturdays at 3 pm. A schedule of dates is included below.

Schedule of Events

Symphony Preview Series

One of four presenters will bring a CD of the selections to be performed by the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and discuss the music and composers so listeners can become familiar with the works before each performance. After each program, two free symphony tickets will be available to a lucky winner.

Dr. Jay Rosenblatt will be previewing the TSO program Nordic Favorites. Join him as he discusses Stenhammar's Excelsior!, Grieg's Piano Concerto, and Sibelius's Symphony No. 2.

Join Dr. Jay Rosenblatt for a preview and discussion of the TSO program Tchaikovsky Squared. Dr. Rosenblatt will discuss Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto and his Symphony No. 6, Pathetique.

Ms. Ann-Marie Schaffer will present and discuss the TSO program Beethoven's 9th. She will examine the works being presented, Bernstein's Chichester Psalms and Make our Garden Grow from Candide, and Choral from Beethoven's Symphony No. 9.

Please join us as Charles King previews the TSO program American Romance. Mr. King will discuss Copland's Suite from Appalachian Spring, Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F, the world premiere of a Composers 11 Composition Celebration, and Hanson's Symphony No. 2, Romantic.

Please join George Hanson, Conductor and Music Director of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, as he wraps up our Preview series with a look at the final program, Czech it Out! Mr. Hanson will discuss Smetana's Overture to The Bartered Bride, Janacek's Taras Bulba, and Dvorak's Symphony No. 6.
