Celebrate 50 Years of Supergirl at the Sam Lena-South Tucson Branch Library

Released: 08-20-09

It's great being able to fly through the air as free as a bird, look right through things, and bend steel bars, but it's not easy being a teenage superhero!

See how Supergirl has balanced schoolwork with saving humanity for the past 50 years with an awesome display through the end of the year at the Sam Lena-South Tucson Branch Library.

Supergirl: The First 50 Years not only commemorates the 50th anniversary of Supergirl, it also encourages literacy through the use of comic books and promotes strong, positive female role models.

The display covers key eras in Supergirl's comic book history and the different incarnations of her in movies, television, books and action figures. Along with historical summaries and pictures, the display is supplemented by trivia and key quotes from writers, producers, and actresses who helped shape and define Supergirl.
