Become a Friend of the Green Valley Library

Send your name and address to Friends of the Green Valley Library, PO Box 43, Green Valley, Arizona 85622. Annual memberships are $25, $50, $100, with the Life Membership $500.

About Us

The Friends of the Green Valley Library is an active non-profit 501(c)(3) organization which runs a used bookstore inside the library seven days a week. The Friends' Quarterly Newsletter reaches several thousand Green Valley residents and has been instrumental in gathering funds for enhancing the building's facade, as well as encouraging community donations for library items not covered by the Library budget.

The Friends sponsor many projects including:

  • Providing additonal funding for large print books, talking books and other media for use by the library system.
  • Tucson Symphony Preview programs, monthly from October through April, which host music professionals/educators who lead discussions about the Symphony's Classical Concert Series.
  • Weekly Focus on Art discussions about various artists, led by Tucson Museum of Art docents, from January through March.
  • School of Information and Library Science Scholarships for graduate students at the University of Arizona.
  • Funds to support the construction of the computer lab at the Green Valley Library.
  • The Green Valley History Project with a Local History Collection.
  • Adult Teller of Tales storytelling events.
  • Enhancement of the Children's Section with a Bobb Vann mural of animals of the southwest.
  • The Youth Summer Reading Program.
  • The Friends' Annual Meeting which hosts notable speakers during the January meeting.

Bookstore

The Friends of the Green Valley Library run a used bookstore inside the library seven days a week. Over $40,000 is raised annually to assist in many ways. Although some books may run over $5.00, the majority of purchases are under $1! Donations of used books are always welcome.

Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Friday 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
