About Us
Friends of the Library - Friends of the Kirk-Bear Canyon Library
Mission Statement
We are committed to promoting the resources, services and needs of the library. Money raised is used to improve the library's services to the community, foster closer relations between the library and the community, assist in enhancing the library's environs and encourage volunteerism on behalf of the library.
Friends of the Kirk-Bear Canyon Accomplishments
- Raised $7,740.00 through book sales
- Raised an additional $700 through the sale of Entertainment Books
- Introduced the popular book cart, which has generated most of the book sale funds
- Sponsored the monthly book discussion group
- Sponsored monthly Art Talks by Tucson Museum of Art Docents
- Provided input into the design and remodeling of library
- Provided funds for promotional materials for Children's Book Week
- Provided thank you gifts for teen volunteers
- Sponsored a breakfast for library volunteers
- Funded staff holiday party
- Contributed funds for the Annual Conference of the AZ Library Association, held in Tucson
- Maintained an informational website
- Participated in a retreat for PCPL Library Friends and Boards to promote advocacy and learn from shared experiences
- Represented the library at several civic events
- Participated in ground breaking ceremony for new addition and remodel
- Published and circulated three FKBCL Newsletters
