Story Town Neighborhoods
Children and their families are invited to explore the Story Town "neighborhoods" - each featuring a favorite children's tale - along Storybook Lane in front of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library, 101 N. Stone Ave.
Storytimes down Storybook Lane
Some of the books featured along Storybook Lane this year include:
- Adelita: A Mexican Cinderella Story by Tomie DePaola
- The Magic Hat by Mem Fox
- The Pig's Picnic by Keiko Kasza
- Owl Babies by Martin Waddell
- Go Away, Big Green Monster! by Ed Emberly
- Duck on a Bike by David Shannon
Each of the stories will be read aloud in front of life-sized scenery, while children can meet and get their pictures taken with beloved characters such as Mother Goose, Curious George, George and Martha, Froggy and Clifford.
Neighborhoods and Activities
Children will have the opportunity to be creative at Art Alley, while Literacy Lane will highlight literacy organizations in Tucson.
Public Library Place features a book sale sponsored by the Friends of the Pima County Public Library, Pima County Public Library's services, and fun activities will take place within the children's area of the library.
Food and refreshments can be purchased on Snack Street.
Live music groups will perform on Rhythm Road, and beautiful storybook princesses will be featured on Fairytale Trail as well as a juggling jester and a book walk - a cake walk with books instead of cakes!
Families are encouraged to visit Town Hall where Story Town information is available. At Town Hall, children can also visit Post Office Place where they will send a letter to their favorite children's book characters.
The fun, literature-inspired town is visited by 1,000 children and their families annually. Story Town kicks off Children's Book Week, November 12-18.

Story Town is made possible by Make Way For Books, in cooperation with The Pima County Public Library and Reading Seed.
